Implementations &
Customer Transitions

While the Alberta
energy market moved from a fully-integrated utility structure to one in
which the energy production, distribution and retail functions are
undertaken by separate independent companies, ATCO I-Tek consistently
delivered timely accurate bills and exceptional customer service.
In May 2004 ATCO I-Tek seamlessly transitioned more than one million
customer accounts from ATCO Gas and ATCO Electric to Direct Energy. This
was one of the largest and most successful customer transitions in the province.

Not all bills are created
equal. With more than 70 years of experience, ATCO I-Tek delivers the ultimate in
billing flexibility.
ATCO I-Tek has successfully customized billing systems to meet
the needs of integrated gas and electric utilities,
municipal utilities, and most recently, stand-alone
retail and distribution billing models. Its proprietary
customer information system, ATCO CIS, supports both a one-bill model
where one party bills for energy and distribution, as
well as a two-bill model where
the retailer and distributor
bill customers separately.
ATCO-CIS manages
all aspects of customer information, from billing and
collection to customer assistance and complex metering
for residential, commercial and industrial accounts.
Clients choose the billing model, statement detail,
price and reporting options that fulfill their specific
needs.
- ATCO CIS supports a
variety of clients: municipal utilities, regulated
and competitive retail and distribution utilities,
and non-utility services.
- Single or multiple
services (electricity, gas, water, garbage
collection, etc.) from
single or multiple service providers can be combined
on one bill.

- Flexible pricing
structure offers a wide range of pricing options
such as service fees, riders, rebates, franchise
fees and taxes as required for different
jurisdictions.
- Accounts can be
grouped and sub-totaled as defined by the client.
- Clients can specify
the amount of detail they want displayed on the bill – a simple summary or
detailed information on each service.
- Bills can be sent on
paper or electronically. If required, copies can
automatically be sent to a third party such as a
customer’s accountant.
- Flexible credit and
collection modules allow clients to tailor customer
treatment based on credit worthiness.
